Charles M. Calvo, MD

Dr. Charles M. CalvoDr. Calvo was born in southern California and was raised in Boulder City, Nevada. He received his undergraduate degree from the Honors College at University of Nevada, Las Vegas and graduated magna cum lauda. He received his medical degree from the University of Nevada School of Medicine and received the Outstanding Student in Surgery award. Dr. Calvo completed his ophthalmology residency at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia, PA where he co-edited the 7th edition of the Wills Eye Manual and was chosen to serve as co-chief resident in his final year. Following residency, he spent a year with the Indian Health Service providing medical and surgical eye care to Native Americans in Arizona. He then completed a vitreoretinal fellowship at the Moran Eye Center, University of Utah, Salt Lake City UT, where he received the Fellow of the Year award.

Dr. Calvo specializes in a variety of medical and surgical conditions of the retina and vitreous including age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment repair, uveitis, retinal vascular diseases, and has a special interest in pediatric retinal conditions. Dr. Calvo has authored numerous book chapters and peer-reviewed publications. He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Retina Specialists.
